GAIL to sign a gas purchase agreement with Turkmenistan’s national oil firm in TAPI pipeline;Donna Summer dies
1. Cabinet allowed state-run gas-firm GAIL (India) Ltd to sign a gas purchase agreement with Turkmenistan’s national oil firm, for supplies from a planned multi-national pipeline, the proposed 1,700-km (1,056-mile) Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India line (TAPI) will have a capacity to carry 90 million cubic metres a day (mcmd) gas for a 30-year period and will be operational in 2018.
2. Country’s largest private mobile operator Bharti Airtel and Axis Bank made a partnership to provide banking services through Airtel Money platform.

1. AUSTRALIA will give more than $300 million in assistance to Afghanistan to help sustain and support the nation’s security forces after Australian troops withdraw from the country. Australia will contribute $100 million a year to the Afghan National Security Forces from 2015.
2. Aziz Qureshi was sworn in as the fifth Governor of Uttarakhand by Uttarakhand High Court Chief Justice Barin Ghosh at a simple ceremony in Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday. The ceremony was conducted by Chief Secretary Alok Jain.
